What Next?

I think that this research could go farther and be broadened.

·     Researchers can use this research to do a similar project or experiment or even learn from this one and go above and beyond with their own research. It is a great tool to know if something can improve someone’s work progress or even their daily life. I'd say that it could be pretty helpful. I think the best way to enhance this research is to try it out on someone who is severely disorganized and maybe lazy and have them start to keep their house organized and see where it goes from there. If they can do the experiment for a longer period of time, I believe that would help as well. In all reality this is a simple experiment and could bring to light a lot of new ideas on how exactly just a space that someone lives in can effect their daily lives.

What I Learned

So, I kept my room looking pretty close to spectacular on a daily basis.

My desk was clean and organized and I didn't seem to feel overwhelmed by not really having room anywhere. My days seemed in a way, brighter as I entered the my dorm room, coming back from class.
My expected outcomes were to have a positive impact on my study habits. I felt that having a more organized study space and just room in general would continue into my daily life and maybe even get my whole life organized in a way.  My research gave me information on what affects your atmosphere and the ability to keep it clean have on a daily routine. There were not any really big problems throughout the research study, other than maybe forgetting to right down what I did for a few days, and then having to try to remember everything the next day.

From my experience in this study I have found that I am more prone to do homework or some sort of reading instead of just staring mindlessly at a screen. I was becoming more productive in my daily life. I didn't watch anywhere close to as much TV(or watching shows on my computer) as I did before.  I also have begun to see that I have started broadening my organization to my life as well. I started using my calendar on my desk, writing down everything that I wanted to get down that day, or that I just had to do. My whole life seemed to become organized instead of just my dorm room.

Here is a graph of hours I watched TV each day for during the 30 days:

As you can see, the number of hours that I watched TV definitely decreased as I got further into the 30 days. This definitely was a positive outcome for me. I realized that I actually got headaches from staring at the screen for long periods of times everyday. I have barely only gotten one or two headaches throughout these 30 days.

What I Am Going To Do

Out of the 30 days for this study the first week (seven days) I will do things as I have been throughout the year and take down data so that I have something to compare it with. Then I will keep my room neat and organized for the next 23 days. The way that I was planning on collecting data was simply recording what I do every day on a chart. This will consist of making my bed, keeping my desk cleared off and putting clothes and books away. I will write down for each day, how many hours I did homework or was being productive throughout each day.  If I took a nap and how long it was. Also I will write if I did homework on my bed or desk and then if I had free time did I study or watch TV. There are some obstacles with this, of course. Some days are busier then others.

By keeping my room organized, and thus hoping that maybe I would get things done quicker and not just sit watching movies and TV shows all of the time.
